The "Giving is Life" Campaign to Support Thalassemia Patients in Palestine 2026

During Ramadan, when hearts unite in goodness, we remember children living with thalassemia on a unique journey. A journey that doesn't break them, but rather forges them into rare strengths. A thalassemia patient is not a weak person waiting for help; they are a young person whose life revolves around the need for blood transfusions every few weeks, a student balancing her dreams with long hours of treatment, and a child learning early that life is embraced with courage, not complaint. But despite all this determination, there are things they cannot overcome alone. Life after a prolonged aggression against Gaza, the shortage of medicine and medical supplies, and the lack of basic necessities for living with dignity.

The number of patients currently stands at 857 (566 in the West Bank and 291 in Gaza).

We lost 48 patients in Gaza during the war, in addition to 16 deaths in the West Bank in 2025. The number of new births has also risen to 7-9 annually, after nearly reaching zero in 2013. The cost per patient is at least $20,000 per year!

Most patients' families are from disadvantaged backgrounds and suffer from severe financial burdens, given the limited resources of the Ministry of Health to provide the necessary care. Therefore, the needs are immense, prompting us to exert every effort to provide some basic necessities. With the approach of the blessed month of Ramadan, a month of giving and charity, we are appealing to promising institutions and individuals to support patients and their families, secure unavailable emergency medications and medical supplies, and alleviate the burden on the most vulnerable families.

Your contribution at this time represents a true lifeline for families exhausted by illness and hardship, and a renewed hope for patients who await a generous gesture from their community that will restore their sense of security and belonging.

Why is supporting the Thalassemia Patients' Friends Association important?

The association is a home that defends patients' rights.

Because their treatment is lifelong and cannot be stopped,

Because the costs of medications and tests exceed the means of many families,

Because they are strong, successful, working, studying, and fighting illness every day, and they deserve our support,

And because Ramadan is the month in which God multiplies every good deed.

In this blessed month, the month of charity that alleviates pain and revives spirits, we launch the "Giving is Life" campaign to give our patients what befits their strength: the opportunity to persevere, to dream, and to triumph over illness every day.

You can contact us for further inquiries at any time. We are grateful for your continued support and generosity. Ramadan Kareem.
