Thalassemia Patients Friends Society’s visit to Islamic University in Gaza
With the aim of enhancing the relationship between the Thalassemia Patients Friends’ Society and the Islamic University's College of Health Professions in awareness programs.

The TPFS visits the Islamic University in Gaza with the aim of enhancing the relationship between society and the Islamic University's College of Health Professions through awareness programs and organizing scientific events. The chief recipients included Dr. Mazen Al-Zuhairneh, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences, Prof. Fadl Al-Sharif, Professor of Molecular Genetics in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Health Sciences at the Islamic University, and Dr. Ahmed Salami, a lecturer in hematology in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences at the College of Health Sciences. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Al-Karmi, the president of the society, expressed appreciation for the ongoing partnership with the Islamic University, particularly during scientific events related to blood disorders, especially thalassemia. He also highlighted the community’s role in raising awareness about the importance of pre-marital medical examinations as a crucial tool to prevent new cases of thalassemia, in addition to acknowledging the university's periodic blood donation campaigns in collaboration with the Central Blood Bank.

 

Dr. Al-Zuhairneh and the society's delegation were briefed on the university's current state and the prospects of scientific research through its students and scientific laboratories.

 

 

At the conclusion of the visit, a field tour of the university was organized, starting from the museum that reflects the university's journey since its establishment, and concluding in the laboratory facilities of the college. Emphasis was placed on continuing joint activities and encouraging college students to undertake studies and scientific research relevant to the field. There was also a strong emphasis on the importance of community awareness through the university's students in collaboration with the society and volunteers from patients and others.
