Thalassemia Patients Youth Council

The Council is a group of several local youth groups, of patients and volunteers from all West Bank and Gaza, whom came together to work on the same objectives and strategies. The inaugurated their initiative in Dec 2013, and officially recognized early 2014.

The objective of the council was to empower and enable thalassemia patients to obtain their health and social rights.

The idea of the Council came as a result of a training program for 35 thalassemic youth (age above 15) to upgrade their knowledge and skills on treatment protocols, and strategies of advocacy and networking. They were enabled to be peer educators in schools and locals, sharing their stories, and advocating thalassemia patients’ needs and rights.
